PTFE and FEP are both Teflon materials.

Chinese name of PTFE: polytetrafluoroethylene. It is a high temperature chemical material containing polytetrafluoroethylene. It is widely used in packaging, electronic and electrical, chemical energy, corrosion-resistant materials. Generally, the suspension polytetrafluoroethylene resin is used for molding to make plates, turning films and pipes. It can be pressed and pushed. It can be mixed with graphite to make plate, rod, packing, rope and raw material belt.

FEP Chinese Name: ppfep. FEP is copolymerized with polytetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. FEP has similar characteristics with PTEE, and has good processing technology of thermoplastic, so it becomes an important material instead of polytetrafluoroethylene. FEP is widely used in the production of wires and cables for transmission lines of electronic equipment used in high temperature and high frequency, connecting lines inside electronic computers, wires for aerospace, and other special purpose installation lines, oil and mineral logging cables, submersible motor winding wires, micromotor lead wires, etc.

The difference between PTFE and FEP

  1. PTFE non stick coating can be used continuously at 260 , with the highest temperature of 290-320 , very low friction coefficient, good wear resistance and excellent chemical stability. Can't be injection molded, can be extruded or painted.

  2. FEP non stick coating melts and flows to form a non porous film during baking, which has excellent chemical stability and non stick characteristics. The highest operating temperature is 200 , melting point is 270 , and it can be used for injection molding and extrusion molding.

So PTFE material is much more practical than FEP. The reason is very simple because of its characteristics: polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and FEP have strong corrosion resistance and chemical stability. The physical properties of PTFE material are harder than FEP, and the temperature resistance is higher than FEP, about 200 degrees, but it is difficult to form PTFE, so many parts with complex shapes are made of FEP. From the color point of view: PTFE is white and opaque, FEP is gray and white, and the translucent related link PVDF is polyvinylidene fluoride, which is a little worse than PTFE and FEP, with low temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. The price is much cheaper than PTFE and FEP.

The temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and adhesion resistance of PTFE are better than those of FEP. PTFE can resist the corrosion of any medium, and its color is absolutely white. It is generally used in fluorine lined pipes, valves, seals, bars and other FEP's which are poly perfluoroethylene propylene. Its color is transparent, and its corrosion resistance is equivalent to that of PTFE. It is generally used in fluorine lined pumps or perfluoroethylene pumps PTFE + FEP = F50, that is, fluoroplastic alloy. This material is also often used in fluorine lined pumps Fluoroplastic pump, they are used together, can increase wear resistance.
